Seeking Family Connection - Mannion Family of Gortaganny, Glenamaddy, Co. Galway
Hello,
I am writing on behalf of my wife, Tyan, whose grandmother was Margaret Mary Mannion, born 9th August 1910 in Gortaganny townland, in the parish of Boyounagh, Glenamaddy, County Galway. Her parents were James Mannion (farmer, Gortaganny) and Margaret Mannion, née Cumber.
Margaret Mary emigrated to the United States, where she married Charles Taubner and raised a family. Irish was her first language, and her connection to Galway has always been a cherished part of our family's identity. We are now actively learning Irish ourselves and hope to spend an extended period living in Ireland in the coming years.
We are hoping to locate any living relatives of the Mannion family from Gortaganny and the surrounding area, as well as any descendants of Margaret's siblings who may still be in County Galway. We would also welcome any local knowledge about the Mannion or Cumber families in this townland.
If anyone has knowledge of these families or believes they may be related, we would be deeply grateful to hear from you. We would love nothing more than to reconnect with family still living in Ireland.
With warmest regards,
Tom and Tyan
Oregon, USA
