Mannion/Walsh Family
I posted in June 2014 and received some replies. I am returning with more information and am still looking for my family home. I have had my DNA tested and have been matched to a 3rd cousin related byBridget Mannion and a 3rd cousin related byMartin Mannion. Also to two 3rd or 4th cousins on the Walsh side of my grandmother's family. I believe thetwo Walsh relations are MichaelWalsh and James J. Walsh. A death certificate for MichaelWalsh lists his parents as David Walsh and Catherine Malloy. I have found a 1901 census record for Michaellisting a Catherine as his mother. This record is for house 2 in Croaghrim, Cloonbur, Galway. My great grandmother was Mary Walsh Mannion. I have been unable to find a marriage record for Thomas Mannion and Mary Walsh. I believe thatthe 1901 census for a house 34 in Cloughbrack Upper and/or the 1911 house 22 in Cloghbrack, Upper is/are my families records.
My son and I will be visiting Galway in early October this year to look for my roots. Can someone identify some RC churches and cemeteries we can visit? Would it be helpful for us to visit the IrelandXO office?
Regards,
Mary Clifford Cobb
