Visiting Galway
My grandfather, Patrick Forde, the son of James Forde, a farmer, was born in Ireland in 1865.
My uncle, William Forde (son of Patrick) is listed in the 1911 Irish census as Grand Nephew in the household ofThomas Forde, who is identified as the Head of Family for house number 2 in Greggaunnagroagh (Caltra, Galway). If this relationship is correct then Thomas and James (my great grandfather were brothers.I have been told that Thomas was originally from Castleblakeney and married into the Costello family.
Are there mid-19th century parish records available for Castleblakeney? If so where would they be located?
Are you aware of anyone else who may be doing research on the Forde family in eith Caltra or Castleblakeney.
I will be visiting in Galway city 26-27 April.
Thankyou,
