Looking for information on the Noone family of Aughrim

GalwayAughrim (Galway)

My father was Joseph Noone. (born 1925). Parents: Patrick and Julia (nee Hynes). Siblings: Veronica (Vera), James, Andrew, Michael, Bernard, Eileen.

I have my father's certificate of confirmation that shows he was confirmed in Aughrim on 24 June 1937, sponsored by Martin Joyce.

The entire family moved to England during the 1950s, the latter stages I believe.

I have no knowledge of my grandfather, Patrick, as he seemingly deserted the family before they left Ireland.

As my father never spoke about his life in Ireland the details I have are sketchy. Any information will be extremely helpful.

Many thanks.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I located the 1925 civil marriage record. We do not have access to any birth records after 1915. The marriage record shows the names of the fathers of the bride and groom.

Here is Julia with her parents and siblings in the 1911 census http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Galway/Aughrim/Northbr…

I did not locate Patrick with his family in the area around Aughrim.

Hello,

I am from Aughrim and I live about one mile from where the family of Noone's lived. I have a friend who may be able to help you. If you are coming to Ireland he

would be happy to talk to you and give you any details that he remembers.

Best wishes,

Mary McLoughlin,

Aughrim.

Thank you Mary. I've only just noticed I had a response. I will get to Aughrim one day but I don't quite know when. I will be sure to let you know.

Many thanks.
