Hi folks

I am looking for information on Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic Churches and cemeteries for residents of the Derrybrusk parish.

For Catholics the civil parish of Derrybrusk was part of the parish of Enniskillen, referred to as the Union of Enniskillen. In addition to the town of Enniskillen the Catholic parish covered the (civil) parish of Rossory, and parts of Derryvullen, Cleenish, and Derrybrusk. In the late 1830s the the parish had two chapels, one in the town of Enniskillen and a second at Lisbellaw, neither of these appear to have a graveyard attached. The records for the parish go back to 1838 for baptisms and 1818 for marriage and images are available on the National Library of Ireland website.

For Church of Ireland the situation is a little more complicated as it seems there was no parish church - or as Lewis (1837) puts it '..there has been no church from time immemorial in this parish..' and goes on the mention that the Protestant inhabitants  attended churches in neighbouring parishes, and that divine service was performed in a school-house in the parish once a month.

The adjacent civil parishes were Aghalurcher, Kilawley, Killesher, Cleenish and Derryvullen.

Note the parish had a detached portion located further north - adjacent parish to this section include part of Enniskillen (also a detached portion), Magheracross and Derryvullen.

The situation may have been different depending on the timeframe..
