Hi Everyone, My name is Narelle from QLD Australia and I'm searching for any information on my 3rd great grandfather Thomas Robinson B.abt.1794 in Dublin, Ireland. Immigrated to Australia around 1840. Married Elizabeth McKay 18 April 1843 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. D.2 Nov 1888 in Warwick, Queensland, Australia. Rumoured to be a convict 1828-29 onboard the ship Sophia but not confirmed. His nickname was Dublin Tom. Religion Church of England. Death certificate says his father was Thomas Robinson. Any help would be much appreciated to find his baptism, parents and siblings details.

I found this on Ancestry. Per their marriage record Darling Downs was where they were from. Are you familiar with the Leslie brothers? You might want to contact the author of this article.

Thomas Robinson was transported on the Sophia, departing 15th Sep 1828 and arriving 17th Jan 1829 with 194 passengers.

Hi Mary,

Yes I have heard of the Leslie Brothers but not until I started researching Thomas, they are well known Pioneers of the Darling Downs. Thankyou for confirming that Thomas was a convict. I've now added this to my tree. Thankyou so much for your help. Narelle
