Dublin research.

Hi Gail, Havent seen one like that before, Henry senior went through three wives in 12 years, as to Henry Gould,I didnt get to see the actual entry of the Baptism although I saw the others, and someone took down the details and transfered them on to a list.  Maybe its just an error on their part, There is a Edward Henry Hillsworth about the right age getting Married later, also there is a Henry Goold getting married in cork in 1863.  I would try to look at the actual entry of the baptism, Its not unusual for a child to die, or to remain single , unless you know better.  Best Searcher

Hi, many thanks. Yes Henry did have 3 wives, and his son William Henry, it seems lived a bit of a double life. He was a in charge of different funds and a stockbrooker. Unfortunately he appearred to have a gambling problem and was sentenced to 5 years jail for embezzelment while working for a Mr Carnegie. The amount being £3800. This was in 1874. Do you know when prisoner mug shots begun.....would love to see a picture of this man. I have some of his prison records. He was in Bridewell and ? Mountjoy prisons.  I will look at the 1863 marriage for Henry Goold and see if it is a possible link. Its an unusual name to give a child, and I haven't found it in the Hillsworth or Harrison research I have done.

Many thanks,

Gail.

Hi Gail, Long time since I have done family reserch. However my great grand father was William Henry Hillsworth Templer. If I remeber correctly he married SIngleton in Dublin. Her father was Robert Singleton resident at Cork Street (Hill). I will dig my records out and see what I can add. I do know that he left my great grandmother and her two children. The younger son (Horrace Reginald Templer) was sent to a training ship in Dartmouth. He drowned in 1916 aged 15. The elder brother (My grandfather Mark Templer) was made to join the army and served in India.

I need to re-read your account again. I do have full names, dates  and locations.

Regards

Jon

Charles William Templer married Flora Hastings Singleton in 1871 at St. Catherine Dublin. Father Robert Singleton.

They had a son William Henry Hillsworth Templer born in 1873 at Carshalton, Surrey.

This is the only reference to the Hillsworth name in my family.

Hope that helps. Any additional inforation on Charles William would be great, and how the Hillworth got included.

Hi Jon, hoping you are getting notifications of updates on this.

Your Great-grand father William Henry Hillsworth Templar married my great grand mother Harriet (Hettie) Russell (nee Willis) in Hitchin in 1918. I am sure this was probably bigamously as I see your Great Grand mother Emily did not pass away until 1928!

Although William should not be a blood relative of mine (he was Harriet's 3rd husband and I am related to the 2nd husband) I do have a number of DNA matches that all link back to William. I am now investigating the possibility that there might have been a relationship between William and my grandmother (Mary A E Russell - Harriet's daughter), and he might actually be my Dad's dad (currently unknown) which would tie in all of the DNA matches I have. Alternatively if he had an illegitimate son, the son could also be Dad's dad!

Can I just check was your Dad Mark Stanley Templar?
