Thomas Smith and Mary Smith née Clark(e)

Lusk (Dublin)

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for information about a Thomas Smith and Mary Clarke who married on November 2nd, 1854, in Lusk. Unfortunately, their parents were not listed on their marriage record, so I don't have much information about their family background or where they originated from. I do know Thomas was a sailor.

According to the 1911 Census, Mary had three children, with only one was still living in 1911.

I found a George Smith, born on March 18th, 1862, in Lusk, who died a bachelor on March 8th, 1890, in Lusk.

I also know they had a daughter named Mary Smith, but I'm unsure of her birth date. She married Nicholas Sweetman on November 19th, 1882, in Lusk. Mary Smith was living with her daughter Mary and son in law Nicholas Sweetman in both the 1901 and 1911 Irish Censuses.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any information about the third child.

I believe Thomas Smith passed away on March 4th, 1910, at Balrothery Union Hospital, but I have been unable to locate him in the 1901 Census. Mary Smith (née Clarke) died on April 8th, 1915, in Lusk.

If anyone has any further information or leads, I would be very grateful!

Thanks, MaryTV. I have seen that record for that Mary Smith before, but I can't be sure if it’s my Mary.

It's such a shame that the records for Lusk Church from 1836 to 1855 aren't available. I'd say I possibly would have found some answers there.

Thanks again.
