Clarke family of Garristown, Dublin
I'm researching my Mother's family who came from Dublin. My great grandfather - Thomas Clarke - is shown on his marriage certificate as being of full age an upholsterer and living at 19 Stephens Green Garristown Dublin. His fathers name on the certificate is Carolus (Charles) Clarke an upholsterer of Dublin and his mother's name is (I think) Margarita. The marriage took place on 8th May 1864 in the Roman Catholic Church of Finglas Dublin. Witnesses were James Clarke and Anne O'Brien. The priest was Patrick O'Sulliven.
Thomas married Mary-Ann Carolan who is also given as of full age and her address is given as Finglas, Dublin. Her father is Thadeus Carolan, profession given as Gentleman of Ashgrove thatched cottage, Finglas Dublin. I think hs wife was named Catharina.
Thomas and Mary-Ann's first child, my grandfather James Thomas, was born in Camden Town, London in 1867. His brother Joseph was born in Dublin in 1869. Charles was born in London in 1871. The family then settled in Stockton, County Durham where William 1874, Henry 1877 and Francis 1881 were all born
