People that lived at Moneybot, The Lane & Carraboy in Saul
The FitzSimons family were tenants on the Moneybot Farm, on the Saul Road, from about 1788 until 1921. John FitzSimons (1752 -> 1830) married Rose Connor around 1780. Rose Connor was probably from the Townland of Struell or a farm on the Slievegrane Road called Carraboy. At least 5 of John & Rose’s 9 children were married.
- Michael married Suzanna Murphy from Slievegrane in 1822. Their daughter Suzanna married John Crangle in 1873.
- Rose married John Murphy in 1823.
- Cecelia married Wm Fowler from the Mt. Quarter & had children named Mary (b.1811), George (b.1813) & Wm (b.1819).
- John was married & had at least 4 children. His daughter Margaret married a Bernard Smyth in 1884.
- Patrick married an Anne Rooney from Upr. Slivergran.
John ((1752->1830) had a brother Patrick who married Anne Rooney (Roney) from Slievegrane in June of 1788. They lived on a farm called The Lane, which was east of Moneybot. They had at least 7 children. One was Anne who married Patrick Crangle in August 1833.
Other names that were associated with Moneybot are: Teggart & Watterson. The FitzSimons were also related to the Blaney family from the Townland of Ballywalter.
Moneybot, The Lane & Carraboy are all in the Townland of Saul. I would be interested in obtaining information on any of these names in the Parish of Saul or surrounding areas.
