Charles Quinn
Hello,
We are travelling to Ireland this April and will be in Belfast and Newry between 11th and 15th April 2017. We are searching for information on my husband's GGG Grandfather, Charles Quinn. Charles was born around 1789 and enrolled in the Royal Tyrone Irish Militia in 1807. He then enlisted in the 3rd (East Kent) Regiment of Foot on October 8, 1811.(UK Archives, WO 13/3276 & WO 12/12645)
Charles Quinn had his Banns of Marriage read on July 4th. 1819 to Esther Coogan at the Church of Ireland in Newry. (Page 23_Mic 1/47/A/1_Vol. 10_PRONI_Belfast). Charles then became a soldieron the Convict Ship "liza" and Esther travelled with him to Tasmania, Australia. Esther Coogan was born in 1803, we presume in Newry.
Charles Quinn was transferred to 39th Regiment (UK Archives WO 12/2119 & WO 12/5264 Oct 25 1827
Charles Quinn died at Parramatta, New South Wales, Australia on 9th April 1832 (Nat. Archives Kew, England, WO 12/5266)
I would be deeply grateful to find any more information regarding Charles Quinn and Esther Coogan.
Patricia Quinn
