Lisbane Townland - Killaney Parish - Tithe Applotment Book?

Killaney (Down)

I have spent far too much time attempting to find the associated Killaney Parish Tithe book which would include the townland of Lisbane. I am at https://apps.proni.gov.uk/eCatNI_IE/SearchPage.aspx and entering FIN/5/A for further filtering directly to the list of Applotment books containing the specific parishes I need. What appears is only a small book relating to Killaney parish of certificates. No listings of the tithes and names etc. like the others. It reads when expanding, "Tithe certificate for the parish of Killaney, County Down. Tithe applotment book not received by PRONI."  Has anyone successfully discovered where the illusive book might be?  Thank you!

There only appear to be 4 townlands in the parish (which is odd). I suspect therefore the tithes for Killaney have either been lost or assimilated with an adjacent parish.

I have a memory stick with most of the tithe records for what is now Northern Ireland. Tell me who you are looking for and I’ll see if your family are in my records.

Hello Elwyn - thank you for a quick response. Within Lisbane Townland of Killaney Parish, I am looking for the family names: SCOTT and MORROW. Fingers crossed.

vickiee,

Have attached all the Scotts & Morrows in my database. Don’t immediately see any from Lisbane but I’ll let you decide. Possibly the Lisbane tithes were lost or were tithe free. (Some were if on church land).

I spotted this from the United Irishmen records in 1798. Is it your family? PRONI: D/607/F/306

George Stephenson, Hillsborough, to Lord [Downshire]: more complaints about Thomas Lane.

'On Friday morning at four o'clock, the troop left this place and proceeded to Larchfield, having under their care the 13 prisoners. The captain took the whole, except 22 with him, and went through the townlands of Carricknaveagh, Carrickmaderow, Lisbane, Creevytenant, Glassdrumming [sic - Glasdrumman] and Magheraknock, taking up several suspected and some guilty people therein. With 22 I marched to Saintfield, escorting the prisoners, and there delivered them to a party sent from Newtownards. Eight prisoners were brought in, and the troop returned home a good deal fatigued. So far for Friday.

Yesterday morning, Mr Mussenden ... and I sat down to take the examinations of those prisoners on oath and in writing ...', but Mussenden received a note from Lane claiming that Lane was '... the proper person to take the examinations of any of Lord Downshire's tenants who may either be apprehended or surrender. ...' This note, Mussenden has taken to General Goldie. '... What am I to do with a fool and a madman? What is to become of us? ...'

He further complains that Lane has sent as a prisoner to the guard house a tenant called Morrow who is '... one of the men that about 30 years ago preserved your Lordship's late father from the fury of a mob at Lisburn. He is 76 years of age, a loyal, decent, well-dressed old man, and who actually tore down a red flag placed by the rebels on a hill in his farm, and drove off the same hill five cowardly rascals armed with pikes. ...'
