Looking for info on Susannah McKibbin 1797

DownComber (Down)

Greetings,

I was in Ireland a couple of years ago and felt like I was home when Igot off the plane. I didn't know one of the reasons Ifelt like home was some of my heritage is Irish. Susannah I have heard wasborn in County Down. Her parents were Thomas McKibbin born in 1776- What I have found that he may be Irish or his family came from Scotland. We think her Mother's name is Jane Irvine. Born in 1777. we also don't know if she was Irish or Scotish. I believe they moved their family to the USA in 1812.

I hope to visit Ireland and scotland again in 2015. Hopefully this time it will be with new eyes finding where my ancestors lived.

Thank you so much for your time.

Cheers,

Michelle,

McKibbin?s a fairly common name in Co Down. There?s 479 in the county in the 1901 census of which well over half are Presbyterian (indicating Scottish origins). Tracing a family in the 1700s without some idea of where in the county that they originated may be difficult as few churches have records for the 1700s.

There?s some McKibbins on this Co Down site:
