I am looking for my Great great grandfather's history. I know his name was John Kilkenny but I don't know where he came from. I know he left Galway for Maine in 1848 He left because of the famine (The great hunger) and my dad never said much about him. He worked on the Erie Canal and settled in New York the state. My grandfather was also John Kilkenny lived in Delavan, Wisconsin as a farmer and had 4 children with Mary Brady. What can you tell me?

Donald's Father. This might not be the correct family since a tree on Ancestry suggests that John's parents are Thomas K. 1840 and Bridget McHale both from Ireland. It might be helpful if you provide dates for your grandfather and info about your great grandfather.
