Eliza Burns/Byrnes/Byrne
Donegal
Eliza Burns from Donegal (possiblythe workhouse) was 19 years old when she was sent to Victoria (Port Phillip) aboard the 'Eliza Caroline'as part of the Earl Grey scheme. From the ship list she was Roman Catholic, could neither read nor write and had worked as a house maid. There was no information about her parents or where she was born. She arrived at the end of March 1850 and married in November that year. Her husband died in Jnauary 1855 leaving her with a two year old daughter and a three month old son. After that I can find no record of a remarriage or death. She was my great great grandmother and I would dearly love to find out more about her. Any ideas anyone?
