Looking for Levis, Cronin, Mahoney, Burns of Ballydehob, Cork, Ireland
My name is Julie Millis. I am looking for information about and the parents of my 3rd Great-grandfather. His name was Samuel Levis born 1816 in Ballydehob, Cork, Ireland. He was married on 9 Feb 1839 in Aghadown Parish, County Cork, Ireland. His wife was Mary Ellen Mahoney, born Jun 1817 and died 11 Nov 1900 in Bradford, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. Her parents were Mathew Mahoney and Ellen Burns. I do not know where or when Samuel died. His father's name may have been Charles. It seems that Samuel's wife, Mary Ellen Mahoney, came to America with her four children, Charles (B: 1 Jan 1840), John ( my 2nd Great-grandfather) (B: 10 Feb 1842), Mary Ellen (B: 15 Nov 1844) and SImon (B:27 Sep 1846), but without him (Samuel). It also seems as if her mother, Ellen Burns Mahoney, born 1801, came to America with her three children, Mary Ellen (noted above), John (B: abt 1824 and Hannah (B:1829). Ellen Burns Mahoney died on 5 Jul 1888 and is buried in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts, USA, but there is no sign of her husband Mathew Mahoney. I do not know of Mathew Mahoney's exact birthdate or birth place. Ellen Burns parents are David Burns and Ellen(? ) I also do not know exact dates or places for them either.
I am also looking for the parents of Eugene Cronin and his wife, Margaret (?). Their daughter, Katherine Cronin married John Levis, the son of the above listed Samuel Levis and Mary Ellen Mahoney. Katherine was born May 1847 probably around Ballydehob also. She died 30 Nov 1889 in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts, USA. Again, her husband, John, ( listed above) was born on 10 Feb 1842, probably in Ballydehob also. Does anyone know any information about any of these people? My email address is djmillis@hotmail.com.
