William Quinn and Cathe Murphy, m. 30 July 1837, Mouneabbey/Cloyne/Cork

Mourneabbey (Cork)

William Quinn, my G3 Grandfather was born ca. 1816, in County Cork, Ireland. He married Cathe (Katie) Murphy on 30 July 1837 in Mourneabbey Parish of the Cloyne Diocese in Cork County, Ireland. He and Cathe had five children born in the same place: Elizabeth, baptized 10 December 1837; Cornelius (my G2 Grandfather), baptized 21 March 1839; Thomas and John, baptized 1 May 1841, and Ellen baptized 25 April 1843. Sometime after 1843, Cathe Murphy died and William emigrated to the United States. He later married Johannah Crowley (b. in Ireland, but no info available) and both appear on the 1850 census in Portsmouth, New Hampshire with Cornelius, aged 12.

I am interested in any information anyone might have about these Quinns and Murphys. I am in Ireland now and headed to Cork. Please let me know if you might be able to help me with details. Thank you!  -- Marcia Call

The Mourneabbey baptismal and marriage records start in 1829 which is too late to find a baptismal record for William Quinn or Cathe Murphy. https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0083?locale=en

I tried to locate Tithe records for Mourneabbey civil parish but was unsuccessful.

The Griffiths data from around 1850 did not show any Quinn households but there were 24 Murphy households in the parish.

No death data for Mourneabbey RC parish and civil registration did not start until 1864.

Sorry, I could not be more helpful.
