Vaughan from millstreet area

Cork

Hi!

I am one of many descendants that have a very similar history told to them as this one passed down to them. The parents, John and Julia supposedly died in the late 1850s. None of us has been able to find any connection in the Ireland genealogy records.

We even have a website has collected our stories and records passed down to us. Any help in making a connection would be greatly appreciated by all of us.

here is an excerpt of the history:

"My Vaughan relatives came from near the town of Milstreet which is right on the border the County Cork and Kerry line in Ireland. They came to America around 1850 to 1854. They are the children of John Vaughan and Julia? Hickey. The children who came to America were all born between 1822 and 1836. Hickey relatives sponsored the Vaughan children when they came toAmerica. These Vaughans settled for a short while in New York and then Illinois before working on the railroad to Boone County Iowa and finally settled near Ogden Iowa in Boone County in around 1865. The Vaughan Childrenare John Vaughan, Patrick Vaughan, Timothy Vaughan, Dennis Vaughan and JamesVaughan and I believe a Elizabeth Vaughan who married a Connie Sheehan and also lived near Ogden Iowa. Voner,

There is a RC parish called Millstreet in Kerry that lies on the border between Cork and Kerry. There are no town lands in either Cork or Kerry called Millstreet....there are a few town lands named Milltown in both Cork and Kerry. IF your relations are from the RC parish of Millstreet, then you will not locate any baptism records for the Vaughn children as the records begin in 1853.

Regards,

Carolyn

I'd look around Cullen, Cork. Records would be listed either as Millstreet, Cork or Millstreet, Kerry.
