Mulcahy and Donoghue Families
My great-grandmother, born Hannah (possibly Johanna) Mulcahy was, according to her accounts, born in Cork City January 1,1862, the daughter of Eugene Mulcahy and Honora Donoghue. She had two siblings I know of, a sister Bridget and brother Timothy, all of whom immigrated to New Yorkin the 1880's and 1890's.Hannah married my great-grandfather John Duggan from Kilsheelan, Tipperaryin New York in 1888 and had eight children, of whom my grandmother Grace was the youngest. We were told Eugene was a cobbler in Cork, specializing in shoes for the disabled. Honora may have been a lace-maker or teacher, and beyond that all other information has been lost. I will be in Ireland 26 May-3 June and will most likely be in Cork sometime during that period. If anyone might be able to help in any wayit would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I've been unable to find baptismal records for my great-grandmother and her siblings at the NLI website for the period, but I did find a baptismal record for a Honora Donoghue in Blarney for 1843 which would place her in the right time.
