Micheal Howard, Julia Connelly relatives

Galway

I am trying to find out if I could potentially still have relatives in Ireland. The names above are of one side of my Irish ancestry from County Galway the other side are Finn’s also from the same area. Attached is all the information I have about the 2 sides of my Irish ancestors. Thank you in advance for any help and can’t wait to see what can be found!

I located a church marriage record on February 16 1879 between a Thomas Finn and Winifred Coleman. The church was Ballaghadcerreen. In 1879, Ballaghaderreen was in Mayo but legislation in 1898 moved the parish to Co. Roscommon. I was not able to locate a civil marriage record which would have shown the names of the fathers of the bride and groom. Witnesses were Thomas Mahon and Winifred Quinn.

I will look for your Howard/Connelly ancestors later.

Thomas Finn and Winifred Coleman were very common names in the area near Ballaghadeereen. In fact, I can see Winifred Coleman baptismal records in Ballaghaderreen in 1858 1859 and two in 1861.

Thomas Finn possibly came from Kiltimagh a village in east Co. Mayo.

For Michael Howard, finding RC baptismal records in Connemara (other than Clifden) is difficult.

Have you taken a general DNA test?
