Mary Jane McCarthy (nee Garland)

Hi.  

I am new here so please bear with me as I am not quite sure where to start.

I have traced my family back as far as my great grandfather John McCarthy and great grandmother Mary Jane Garland (died 1937).  I have all the information from the 1901 census when they were living at Buckingham Place and 1911 when they were at Cove Street, both addresses in Cork City.  

I came across a post on the message board by Dierdre (in 2013) who had found out that the couple were originally from Aghada and married around 1888, before moving to Cork City. The post also mentioned that Dierdre had located the grave of Mary Jane McCarthy in Aghada Cemetery.  

I will be visiting Cork next spring and I would be very interested in visiting my great grandmother's grave. I was wondering therefore if would be possible to get in touch with Dierdre or is there somebody who could provide a name and location of the cemetery?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They were probably married earlier than 1888. Their eldest daughter Mary Margaret was born in 1881, The baptism records I have found for other children so mother's surname Gartland. The civil register shows Garland.

FYI- Thomas was born in 1883, Honora in 1886, Andrew in 1888, per RootsIreland and per census Aghocle County?? where their parents were born.

Thank you so much for your response.  This is extremely useful information and has given me a few new leads to follow!  

I am planning a trip to Cork next March/April and it's wonderful that I can now go and see where my great grandmother was laid to rest. I will certainly consider filling in a Meet and Greet form before I go.

I really can't thank you enough!
