Hi Donna,
Thank you for your message.
Do you have any other information on Margaret that you can share-most importantly a specific place in Cork where she was born/lived? Most records sources in Ireland-church records, land records, census records- are based on specific locations. Your search for information on Margerat will be much easier if you find a specific location.
Do you have any documentation that mentions a townland/parish/village or town? Have you looked in to her emigration? Sometimes immigration records can give you more information on the immigrant, and perhaps even an exact place of origin! For immigration records in Canada check the National library and Archives at:
http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/index-e.html
Once you have a placename you will be able to look for information in church records.
You could also try doing a search for the family in the Tithe Applotment Books. These are land surveys that were carried out in Ireland between 1823-1838. However, if multiple results are returned for your search it may not be of help to you. You can do a search here:

Some other websites which may be of help to you are:
Failte Romhat: www.failteromhat.com
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx

I hope that this helps. Remember to post any new information that you come across. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Kind regards,
