Denis Sullivan marriage Aug 6, 1865, to Ellen in Clonakilty, Cork

Cork

I believe this record to be my 4th great-grandparents, but I'm confused by Ellen's last name already shown as Sullivan. Both are shown as widows in the attached certificate. I wonder if she had been married to a relative of Denis or maybe it's just a coincidence? Any idea's how to find Ellen's maiden name if not Sullivan and/or Denis' first wife. Looking specifically for the mother of Thomas (born ~1819 in Cork). I'll be visiting Ireland in April 2026 and am trying to firm up some details ahead of my trip. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

The way I would interpret the record---Ellen's maiden name would be Sullivan and it appears she married a Sullivan who died and then she married Denis Sullivan.

I looked on the Clonakilty marriage register for August 6th 1865 and did not see the marriage. I was looking for a possible annotation of a close relationship between Denis and Ellen.

Civil RC marriage and civil death records started in 1864 so trying to find the spouses of Denis and Ellen would be difficult. I went to irishgenealogy.ie and searched for church marriage records in Clonakilty for Denis Sullivan and Ellen Sullivan from 1840-1865. There were three Denis Sullivan marriages to Catherine Crowley (1853) Mary Holland (1857) Ellen Collins (1862) There were eight Ellen Sullivan marriages in that period in Clonakilty. I'm not going to list the marriages but none of them were to a Sullivan. Also, the prior marriages of Denis and/or Ellen could have been in a different parish.

Also odd, for Fathers name & surname - for both, Danl Sullivan is listed. So odd to me!
