Looking for Riordan relations

Macroom (Cork)

Hello. I’m in search of Riordan relations who resided from Monatagarth and Macroom. My great grandfather Owen Eugene Reardon was born 24 Sept 1871 there. His dad was Owen Eugene Riordan and his mom was Mary Creedon. There seem to be many men named Owen Riordan in County Cork so it has been difficult to sort. Any assistance is appreciated as I’d love to learn of cousins from this side of my family, as I plan to visit in October. Thank you!

Death of Mary Riordan aged 100 years in 1891, I wonder if she was Owen snr's mother?

Hi Eileen- that’s a good question. A way to know is to find Owen Riordan’s birth certificate- he had my grandfather in 1871, so he was probably born between 1841-1851 (approximately 20-30 yrs old when having Owen-mere guess)…. OR better, Owen’s marriage certificate to Mary Creedon, that should show their parents.

Hi! I am researching Riordans from this same area, specifically Aghinagh, Coolacareen, and Caum. Cornelius Riordan married Catherine Callaghan in 1868 and they had 11 children (I was fortunate to meet the younger 5). All 11 emigrated to the US, mostly in New Jersey. Patrick Reardon (He insisted on this spelling) married Katherine Sullivan (also from Aghinagh, had emigrated to Brookline, MA and they kept in touch).

Going back in time, Michael Riordan was Cornelius' father, and I believe Mary Regan is his mother.

Have you done DNA testing? My gedmatch is AY1737591.
