Roger, the volunteer work that the 7 of you do is commendable for the purpose of keeping those connected to Ireland's history alive. I can't thank you enough for any information you are able to uncover for me. From what you've said, the baptismal records started in 1782, and I have a copy of Mary Tigue/Tighe Flynn's recording of her event on 11/12/1796 in Navan Parish (according to Ancestory.com - Ireland Selections of Catholic Parish Baptisms, 1742-1881). She was archived. If Patrick was baptized there as well, I assume it would be about the same time period as was Mary's (about 1796ish). These events would have taken place after the beginning of the recordings and prior to the 1813-1842 gap. As for your question concerning how long Mary's family lived in Navan, I can state that the baptismal recording shows Mary's parents to be Elizabeth Cassidy and William Tighe. When I looked up Elizabeth Cassidy's name on Ancestory.com, a baptism comes up as 3/11/1789 in Navan. I assume something was transcribed in error since that would have made mother Elizabeth between 7 and 9 years old when Mary was born. I can find nothing for father William Tighe except that he is Mary's father. Mary moves all 5 of her children to Durham England in the 1850's. There, she spends the rest of her life. The children's names are consistent from information I've obtained, from others having documented support, in my family. I assume she left as a widow(or possible went searching to find a better life due to the famine) because the census records, from England, indicate that she was the head of the household raising her 5 children alone. It is interesting that the 1854 Griffiths Valuation Head of Household Listing for Navan shows a Patrick Flynn. I would love to have a copy of this listing and any further information you might be able to uncover. If my request is asking for more services than what the volunteers at your organization provide, could you obtain for me a place/person that I might try to determine additional information? Roger, thank you.
Susan
