Missing Murphys in Ahalisky, Ballinascarty

Kilmaloda (Cork)

I set myself the challenge of finding the vital details of all my great-grandparents and their siblings, and I have succeeded - except for this family in Ahalisky;

https://nationalarchives.ie/collections/search-the-census/census-record/?census_year=1901&county=Cork&ded=Kilmaloda&townland=Ahaliskey&limit=50&id=5756730&browse=true

Finding the family was an achievement because my direct ancestor John Murphy left the county as a teenager. The only lead I have is that the daughters may have become nuns in South Africa - but I cannot find any records to support this.

I have Patrick as dead in 1921; and Thomas as dead in 1943 - both childless, both in Kilmaloda.

I have DNA results on Ancestry, but nothing connects them to this family in rural Clonakilty. I also checked emigration records, but Murphys are so numerous I can't be confident.

Where should I go from here? I feel I have hit a brick wall.

Matt,

I noticed that John Murphy, who you directly descend from is missing from the 1901 Census (you mentioned he left the county as a teenager) is back on the 1911 Census, age 29 (you show above). On your tree on Ancestry, you show him married and living in Mayo in 1911. Census does show he was born in Cork. Have you connected him with the correct Murphy family in Cork? Do you have information tying him back to Ahalisky, Kilmoloda, Cork?

Regards- Mary
