Dangandonovan Cemetery

Killeagh (Cork)

Good morning All -

I’ve recently received some research from a distant cousin in Australia!

in the documents I have photocopies that look to be from two different books - the titles on the pages are twofold:

  1. ”The Gravestone Inscriptions of Co. Cork  - X”
  2. Cork Historical and Archaelogical Society

Is anyone familiar with books titled as such - the photocopies are very poor and difficult to read and I’d love to either get a copy or go where one is available for research.

I’ve found the Dangan Cemetery and think these Gravestone Inscription book might help me identify which grave markers belong to my ancestors (one of the pages I have is a map of the cemetery with numbers corresponding to page in the book with the information matchable!)

Thanks in advance

I did thank you Mary - I”ve the list of Kelly’s from the copies my cousin sent and they correspond to what I found on Find a Grave but as the stone markers are very challenging to read now couldn’t exactly locate when I was there this morning.

If I could get my hands on the books I could match the map to the numbers and then know where to find them in the cemetery!  It’s wonderful information - I still need to figure out what our connection is but my 2nd great grandfather was a Kelly from Killeagh so these would be his family/ancestors!!

Have you tried contacting the publishers of The Journal of the Cork Historical and Archaeological Society (founded 1891)?
