Maher/Meager in Glanworth, Co Cork
I've been researching my 2x great grandmother for almost a decade. In the past couple of years I have found DNA matches to several people - they are descendants of John Maher b1822 and Patrick Maher b1823. They were both in Springfield, MA in the US in the 1850s. Both of their naturalization records indicate that they are from Glanworth. I believe that they are my 2x great grandmother's brothers or at least first cousins. Both John and Patrick show "Patrick" as their father on their marriage records. I found a Patrick Maher/Meagher in Glanworth in the Tithe Applotment Book of 1825. My grandmother is Bridget Maher b1830. Patrick b1823 lived out his life in Springfield, MA. John was in Iowa in 1860 and two houses away from him were Patrick and Bridget Maher Condon - my 2X great grandparents. John then moved to Wood River, NE where he lived for the rest of his life. Irish naming traditions hint that Bridget's mother might be Margaret. In Springfield, MA census for 1855 I found Patrick as the head of household and living with him were Margaret, age 60 and Bridget, age 26. Patrick was single that year.... his first wife had died and he was not yet married to his second wife. This could be MY Maher family - son living with his mother and sister but I have no proof. I have not been able to find any Glanworth records for that time period. I have found no cemetery records online. I would appreciate any help I can get.
