Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Could you provide more specifics? Did Ellen and John marry in 1805 in Cloyne RC parish? Did they have children?

I checked on Roots Ireland and did not find a marriage in Cloyne parish.

I can't find a marriage but in Cloyne they had son Daniel in townland Barnabrow in 1807 and daughter Mary on 6 April 1810 in Cloyne.  Appreciate your help.  I see a lot of Carneys in Cloyne in those early years.

D Carney:

Roots Ireland has five more children (at least) in Cloyne: Thomas 1814 David 1818 John 1821 Catherine 1824 and Richard 1831.

Thank you Roger, that is very helpful.  In looking at the record for Catherine, I see that it records the birth of Kitty and her mother was Nelly.  Can I take from that that Nelly is common for Ellen and Kitty for Catherine?

Dcarney

Yes, Nelly for Ellen and Kitty for Catherine.

Thanks again Roger.  I could not find anything on ancestry.com about the names you found on Roots Ireland and I see that it could cost me 150 euros a year to subscribe to this web site.  I hesitate to invest that much money for only a few queries with unknown results.  Is there a way around that or is there an alternate site to find such data?

Dcarney

The work is tedious but you can scan the Cloyne parish register http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0035  and find a few of the records. For some reason, the NLI register has a gap from July 1812 thru December 1820. Roots Ireland has those records. You can get short-term subscriptions to Roots.
