Hello, I want to thank you for telling me about the historic Clonpriest graveyard, and how to check out the Flavin graves. I am uncertain if Margaret (McCarthy) Flavin is my ancestor. I only say this because of her age being 65 yrs in 1840. I think my Margaret (McCarthy) Flavin would of been around 40 to 43 years old in 1840. Her last child with James Flavin was Denis Flavin born 1840 and bapt. 1840. I found a bapt. record for Denis Flavin being bapt.1 Feb 1840 in Youghal,Cloyne,Cork and his parents were James Flavin and Mary McCarthy, and sponsers were William Flavin and Catherine Flavin. There was a Rev.M. Sheehan at top of page, but the celebrants initials were given as P.W. (not sure if it was a W ,but my best guess).
( I also did notice that Margaret was called Mary in the record, but I have also seen her called Peg or Peggy too.)
I should check out Grifith Valuation too as it seems like there are some clues there too! I often wondered if some of my ancestors resided near each other. It is also interesting that the homesteads are still occupied even if it is by strangers or descendants of the early occupiers.
I know little about my Hyde ancestors only that one was named Catherine Hyde and married Thomas Stack. Of course I am always wanting to find out more!!!
Thanks again for all the information!
