My family the Lenihan's I'm told originated in Buttevant. Not finding records of this although just beginning my search. Looks like they came to America in 1852 and settled in New York. I will be in Ireland Aug. 7-16 with 2 days in the Cork area. If anyone knows if there were or still are Lenihan's in Buttevant would be great to know this thanks!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
Roots Ireland www.rootsireland,ie has Buttevant RC baptismal records back to 1814 and marriage records back to 1820. If you know any of the names of the children, you should search this site. Roots is a pay site to view a transcription of a church record. However, you can search the indexes to see if there are family records in the Buttevant records.
I also looked at the 1852 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Buttevant ciivl parish and there were a good number of Lenihan and Linehan records. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/cork/buttevant.htm
Let me know if you have any questions.Enjoy your trip to Ireland.
