There was a Michael Shortall baptized 12 Jun 1848 in Muckalee, Ballyfole, Kilkenny. Parents were James Shortall and Mary Hayden married 11 Feb 1836 in Muckalee. Michael married Margaret Carrigan daughter of James Carrigan and Johanna Brenan from Ruthstown, Ballyfoyle. Margaraet was one of 13 children and sister to Canon William Carrigan. Unable to find marriage record or emigration records for Margaret and Michael. They lived in Chicago and had nine children. Michael died in 1916 and Margaret in 1924. I hvae more information on the Shortalls and the Carrigans.
My ancestor was Michael Shortall. Interesting.
