The Catholic Church for Ballintemple civil parish is in Knockavilla. They have records back to 1834. However, Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie does not yet have the records for this parish online.
You may want to contact the parish directly to see if they can help you with church records.

By the way, I checked the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Ballintemple parish but there were no Kennedys listed. What info do you have that shows Ballintemple as the parish?

Thank you for your reply - I'm afraid Ireland Reaching Out website has me a bit confused on how to use. Just entered my message where it opened up. I actually don't know where James Kennedy starts out from in Ireland. My closest guess would be Tipperary as I have read that Kennedy's settled there. To make matters worse, still don't know my counties, parishes.
Hope you don't feel I wasted your time. Again thanks for the response.

No problem. We are redesigning our web site early next year. Hopefully, it will be more user-friendly.
Kennedy is a common name in Tipperary and Ireland in general.
There is a good starter genealogy book called Tracing Your Irish Ancestors by John Grenham.
Do you have the death record for James Kennedy. Possibly that would show his mothers name.
If you find more information, please come back and post again and we would be glad to assist you.
Roger
