Manning / Pyne of Aghada County cork

I am trying to validate and identify any family informating related to my Great-Grandmother Ellen Daly nee Manning. She was a Manning while in Ireland and married in the U.S.A.

Her name was Ellen Manning. Ellen was born in 1874 in Ireland. Per records / family she was born in Cork. Her parents names per her marriage license were Michael Manning, Hanorara Pine.

I did some paid research at Records Ireland for a limited search. They found a match description but a birth year of 1868 and not 1874. I do not know how to verify the match. There is a Ellen Manning born at the family address of Gileen/Sileen in the Registar's District of Aghada, Union of Middleton, County Cork. her father was Michael Manning and her mother was listed as Honora Manning formerly Pyne (which would match the American version Pine). Saleen seems to be located at the end of a small inlet that leads in to Cork Harbour. I do not know how to validate this information. If this indeed the correct information.

Can anyone help or suggest where I go to next? Are there any ideas how I can find additional informaiton about each family and go back further in lineage?

Michael,

Most people who emigrated were illiterate and undocumented.  They didn't know how to spell their names and hadn't a clue as to what age they were.  At the port of arrival their names were recorded phonetically, their ages were only guessed, and this is the information that followed them for the rest of their lives.

The proof of this occured in 1909 when the old age pension was introduced into ireland.  People had to prove their ages and were forced to go through baptismal records to establish when they were born.  That is why there is such HUGE discrepancies between ages in the 1901 census and the 1911 census of Ireland.  Dates were found to be out by many many years in some cases.

If you look at the records objectivly you will see that she is your ancestor.  She is born at the family address, her fathers and mothers names are correct.  Of course this is her.  

While volunteering on this site I have lost count of the families who have gotten dates from tombstones and census records only to find they were incorrect.  You really need to keep an open mind.

The fact that both surnames are quite unique is a clincher for me.

Wow! Thank you - that information about birth date variations and discrepancies between ages in the 1901 and 1911 census records is really helpful and explanatory.
