Hello Kena, I am very happy to hear from someone with ancestors with the Nealon name. I have not heard from many that are researching our family name.
I only know of my g-g-grandparents who came from Ireland abt 1848. William Henry and Mary (LYNCH) Nealon came with their two (2) young daughters, Susan & Bridget, ages 2 & 4. Although I have not found their passage, they supposedly came to Boston, then to NY in abt 1865, then removed to Winona, Minnesota. They raised their children Susan, Bridget, Sarah, Martha, John, Katherine, Michael, William Jr. there and lived their lives there. Mary's parents were Michael and Maggie (PURTELL) Lynch.
A few months back I received a possible connection from a gentleman in Ireland who intoduced me to a Neilon "relative" in Kilrush. He is under the impression that all of the families with that variation: Neilan/Neilon/Nealon, etc. ifrom that area are all related. He also said that he has notes of a marriage to "LYNCH" families. I also recently heard from a g-g-granddaughter of Michael Nealon, who's family still lives in Minnesota. These two are the first contacts in 28 years that I have had with possible "Nealon" families since I started Genealogy.
I have also had a long time correspondence with a g-g-granddaughter of Mary's sister, Anna Lynch-BURNS. There are MANY "Lynch" families thruout the universe and from as many countries, it seems.
I hope that we are "cousins" and that we might help each other in our research. My most discouraging research is of my NEALON/NEILAN family in Ireland. I have many "notebooks" on the children of William and Mary Nealon. Plus the documentation of their history; marriage, census, births, cemetery, etc.
I am interested in your location and how you got started in your search of our family name and history.
Sincerely,
Betty
