O'Keeffe and O'Brien family Ennis, Clare

Ennis (Clare)

Hi,

My ancestors Martin O'Keeffe (c.1817-1898) and Johanna O'Brien (c.1822-1894) married in Ennis on 26 Jan 1841, they left for Australia soon after. Martin was the son of Daniel and Ellen O'Keeffe, Daniel may have been a builder or farmer in Ennis. Johanna was the daughter of Michael O'Brien and Ellen Fuller, I am not 100% certain but I believe that Michael O'Brien was a corn merchant, based on Mill Street Ennis. Any info or help finding more information on the O'Keeffe and O'Brien family would be greatly appreciated. I am from Australia and will be visiting Ennis in the coming weeks. Thanks.

In Griffith's Valuation of Clare in 1855, there was one Fuller listed as head of household (from rootsireland.ie).

Thanks Patricia! i forgot to mention the name Judy. I have a feeling that Adam Fuller might be Ellen's brother. What are your thoughts? I don't think it is a common name in Ennis?

Could be. Or a cousin. Or a very old father?

Jilee4,

Civil marriage records show the marriage of a William Fuller (Police Sergeant) to Jane Agnes Hewson in Clarecastle Church on April; 26th 1878. His father also recorded as William. They were members of the Church of Ireland.

Jane Hewson is recorded as being from Ennis.

In regard to Adam Fuller, he is recorded as renting a house and small garden. No. 71 on Griffith's list.

Regards,

McCoy
