Seeking information on Thomas McNamara

Attached docs give need to know info about him. From family heirlooms we know he was born either in 1831 or 1834 since stated ages varied in this time window. He emigrated through Liverpool arriving in Castle Garden NYC on Nov 17 1855. Prior to that in the 1851 England Census he was 17; and 21 when he married on Oct 4 1855. His father was John McNamara [deceased].

Living in Dunholmn Lincolshire County England at the time of the census and his marriage to Mary {nee Ryan Hasty}, probably was born in Galway [as his obit states]. Genealogical research confirms his family line was from Ennistymon Clare, and believe his family moved to Galway and possibly Murrisk Barony Mayo - specifically the Louisburgh/Clew Bay area. They were all illiterate of the farm labor class.

The genealogist believes he could have been avoiding the law by moving to England at such a young age without any family in the area. She has traced through DNA his family had moved to Galway and Mayo in the late 1700s to mid 1800s. Other intermarriages in his line include Burke, Bourke, O'Toole, Lyon and O'Malley.

Any information about him or the Hasty line would be greatly appreciated.

Don:

I checked a couple subscription sites- Roots Ireland and FindMyPast.ie and there are five or more Thomas McNamara baptismal records in Co. Clare around 1830 with father John. A number of parishes in Clare and Galway do not have records back to 1830. Ennistymon in particular has records starting in 1871. I did not see any Galway records for Thomas McNamara father John around 1830.

I also did not see any Hasty baptismal records with father Edward in the 1830 timeframe.

Sorry I could not be more helpful!

By the way, You could add Thomas (and his picture) to our Ancestor file https://irelandxo.com/ireland-xo/history-and-genealogy/ancestor-database/add
