Claire,
The baptism records for John and his sister Bridget on the site clarelibrary.ie show that the family lived in the town land of Glendree, Tulla, Clare. In the 1901 census, there are the following names living at house 2 in Glendree: John, 25 head of household; and his siblings Martin, 20; Bridget, 18; Sena, 17; Thomas, 14; and Lizzie, 12. Their parents must have died by then. Then in the 1911 census, John is living with his two sisters "Lena" (Sena) and Lizzie in Glendree.
Regards,
