Patrick Martin and McKiernan's of Gortmullan

Tomregan (Cavan)

Patrick Martin born about 1822 married Rose Ann McKiernan in 1857. They went on to have 12 children before Patrick died in 1889. Rose went on to live until 1914. I am trying to find out if Rose had siblings especially a brother John. Our ancestor John McKiernan went to Scotland and married Elizabeth Halley in 1858 at Stirling.Their marriage record shows he is a mason and his parents are named John McKarnie [deceased] and Mary Keenan [deceased] his father was a mason too.

I would appreciate any help or suggestions. [Spelling of the name McKiernan as varied through the generations.]

Maura:

Records for that RC parish (Knockninny/Derrylin) start in 1855. If the McKiernans were from that parish, we won't find a baptismal record for Rose or any siblings. By the way, name is shown as M Ann on the the marriage record rather than Rose Ann?

Thanks for your reply and reminding me that the records didn't start until 1855.

I have noticed the M.Ann on the marriage record but all the records for their children have Rose Anne. All the transcriptions I've seem have M.Ann but I find it puzzling that the priest would write M rather than the first name.
