Upcoming visit to Ireland
We are very much looking forward to our visit to Ireland the last part of May. We're hoping to be able to spend a couple of days in County Cavan making connections with my ancestoral family: Henry Spinks and Jane Brennon, who were married in the Drung parish church in 1814. Their daughter, Cecelia, was baptized there in 1815.
We really need and would welcome advice.
Would it be more practical to approach our visit from Dublin or Belfast? We will be starting our tour in Dublin and ending up in Belfast. We would like to visit the church and graveyard in Drung, plus try to locate some of the small holdings the Spinks and the Brennons were farming at the time of the Valuations. Henry and Jane Spinks emigrated to Ontario, Canada between 1815 and 1819, but I would love to try and find a connection to Henry Spinks' family in Cavan. I know Jane Brennon's parents were Francis & Margaret Brennon. They were enumerated in the townland of Lisclone on the 1821census. The Spinks families seem to have lived in the southern part of the county.
We look forward to hearing from you. Any suggestions, assistance or guidance would be so gratefully welcomed.
Thank you.
