Babington

Cavan

Hello,

So glad to have found this site!

I searching for information about my ancestor James Alexander Babington, born about 1831-1834. He emigrated to Canada through the US in 1856 with his friend Joseph Vitch/Weitch (sp?) who promptly went back to Ireland.

He states in Census records that his parents were both born in England. Family stories say his father was named William. I match DNA with other Babingtons from Cavan who all trace to John James Babington (1783-1830, Cavan). I have been unable to locate any birth/baptismal data for James Alexander.

Any help truly welcomed!

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

The subscription site Roots Ireland had one James Babington baptismal record in Co. Cavan and the father was William. See transcription below. The RC parish would be the one in Cavan town. Hopefully, your Babingtons were RC. I did not find any records for siblings and I also did not find a marriage record for the parents.
