McCue- Moran Families

CavanKillashandra (Cavan)

My 3x great aunt Mary ( Mira or Maria) McCue (b 1830 ?) and her husband Edward Moran (b 1830 ?)lived in Ossining, New York USA. They may have originiated in Killashandra Parish. Mary McCue Moran's will noted her surviving brothers were Jeremiah , Michael( wife Annie O'Connor McCue)and sister Julia - she married a Brady.

I amnot sure they are accurate, here are the brithdates I have for Jeremiah born 1841-43, Michael born March 1836, Julia born 1834. Michael's death certificate says his father was Michael and his mother was Mary Dolan (some documents say Mary Dunne). Jeremiah's death certificate names his father as James, no mother's name.

I have found some evidence that the Morans, Bradys and McCues may have come from Killashandra Parish. I would like some help to verify any information.

In the 1841 Irish Census I found - a John Moran- a farmer( 59 so born in 1782) m 1805 to Eliza living with Charles & Bridget McCue's farming family in the parish of Killashandra, Townland Drumhillagh and Co. Cavan Ireland.

Charles (30) a farmer and Bridget (30) McCue's children were noted as Catherine (3), Michael (4), Patrick (10), Bridget (8) and another Bridget (40) McCue also lived with them.

Johnand Elzia Moran'schildren were George (28)-woolen weaver, Matilda (23) spinner, Jane (16) and John (13).

I also found that Nicolas Brady (35) a farmer lived in the Killashandra Parish with his wife Mary(30), James (17), William (15), Thomas (13), Ann (10), Mary (8), Patrick (6), Lucy (3) and son John. According to an unverified record, Julia McCue married Terrence Brady ( born 1838 in Ireland). Terence's parents (unverified) were noted as Phillip Brady and Mary Connally of Kingscourt, Cavan. Any helpo would be appreciated. Thanks Mary McCue Greene

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I noticed you have not received a reply. I checked on Roots Ireland and for some reason can not find any records in Co. Cavan. You don't mention the religious denomination but I assume RC. The Killeshandra records start in 1835 http://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0838   Mary McCue would have been before 1835 so I was not surprised that her record was not on Roots but I also could not find Jeremiah or Michael. I also could not find any children of Charles McCue.

The 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Killashandra parish did not show any McCue records but there were four McHugh records.
