Searching for information on the family of Rose Smyth Callahan born between 1793-1807. Emigrated to the US in 1864. Daughters were Ellen born 1816-1818, and Ann born about 1835, both born in Ireland.
Ellen Callahan (born about 1817) married John Gaffney (bn about 1815) in the 1840's. Children: Bartholomew & Matthew born in the 1844's in Ireland.

Kathy:
I looked at the 1856 Griffiths Valuation survey head of household data and found a Rose Callaghan in Dungummin Lower townland in Kilbride civil parish. I also located two John Gaffneys in Kilbride parish as shown below. The 1901 census data www.nationalarchives.ie showed five Gaffney families in Kilbride townland and one Gaffney family in Pollareagh townland.

Thanks Roger for your speedy reply and information.
Do you have any suggestions on how I might find additional information for the Dungummin Lower, Kilbride and Pollareagh townlands?
Thanks for your help.
Go to where you were born and go to the church to ask them to check the dead zed book. Usually, when you are born, it will be recorded in a book stored in the church.
