Connolly/Brady Family

Hi,

My name is Eileen Cooney (Brady)

Born in Bellsgrove Kilnaleck Co Cavan.

Im trying to trace my great great grandparents on the Connolly side, My grandmother was Rosanne Connolly who i believe was born in Lisany Co Cavan but cencus also show Omard1889 - 1942, her parents were Thomas Connolly 1853 -  & Ellen McEnerny or McNereny, 1859 - 1944 so i am trying to find Thomas parents i have a Patt Connolly but i dont think that is correct. there were Connolly brothers who were priests some who emigrated to America one name ive got is Fr Peter Connolly 1851 - 1927 buried near Lisany.

See fourth record at this link https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1877/11151/8084594.pdf for the 1877 marriage between Thomas Connolly and Ellen McEnertny. Thomas' father was shown as Patt. Family lived in Drumgore townland in Drumlumman civil parish. This parish is in southern Cavan on the Co. Longford border. Lisanny townkland is also in that parish.

By the 1901 census the family was living in Omard townland in Ballymachugh civil parish which is just to the east of Drumlumman parish.

I'm still looking for a baptismal record for Rose or a civil birth record. I did find a record for Peter.

Eileen, only seeing this site for the first time.  Yes, the Connolly's were from Drumgore co cavan. Patrick was married to Margaret Halton, the Principal in Loughduff N.S. I vaguely remember her when I started school in 1954. Patrick's brother was married to my grand-Aunt Lizzie Reilly.  The Connolly had 2 brothers who were priests in America. Their photos are in a book published on the parish of Mullahoran..  I feel it is the same family you are researching. Mary Murphy
