Wilson Family

Armagh

Seeking ancestors and specific location within Armagh for:

James J. Wilson b. 19 July 1832 d. 19 March 1909

and his wife Jane Kennedy b. 1 February 1831 d. 2 August 1908

They married 1 July 1850 at the Registrar's Office in Lurgan

Emigrated to Massachusetts with the chiildren. USA and then Connecticut, USA after 1871.

At least some of the children were born in Portadown. How does this fit into Armagh and Lurgan?

Children include: Mary Ann b. about 1855

Sarah b. about 1859

Robert b. 1863 Portadown

John b. 1861 Portadown

James b. 1 Jun 1865 Portadown

Maria b. about 1857

Thomas b. 26 Nov 1869 County Armaugh

Martha b. 17 Jan 1861

Margaret Jane b. 1852

I'd love to find birth/baptism records on any of the children and the parents.

I believe Jane Kennedy's parents were Robert Kennedy and Margaret Forbes or Forbis

Thanks in advance for any research assistance you can provide!

FATHER [INF1]/ A BREDDON [REGTR]

One of James children was evidently born in Corcrain in 1865. Corcrain is part of the town of Portadown which is about 6 miles from Lurgan. Both are in Co. Armagh. Griffiths Valuation of 1864 lists a Jmes Wilson living in Charles St. The only James Wilson listed in that area so that might be your ancestor

Charles St still exists today though whether that 1864 property is still standing, I can’t say..

Thank you Patricia! Do you know what the Notes section under "Sponsor 2" mean or refer to?

Hi,

The notes indicate that the father was the informant (registered the birth). The registrar was A. Breddon,
