Robin,
Do you have a baptism record of his 1826 date? Self-reported dates are not always reliable. On the paid site, Roots Ireland, there are three James McConvill's, all baptized in the RC parish of Shankill. Two are in 1827 and one in 1830..for the years 1820-1832.
Here is the information:
James McConvill, 4 Mar 1827, parents - Anthony McConvill & Catherine Murta.
James McConvill, 10 Sep 1827, parents - "Niece" McConvill & Rooth McMullin (I went to view the original record on the NLI site to see what the father's name was, but could not find it, and the records for this parish are amazingly clear and easy to read!)
James McConvill, 1 May 1830, parents - Eneas McConvill & mother not recorded
If he had children, maybe he named his first born son after his father.
One last thing, one of the sponsors for the 1830 James was James McMullin....I wonder if the name "niece" and Eneas are the same person which would mean that the 1827 James with the mother named McMullin died young, and they named a second son James.

Robin and Carolyn
James Mc Convil, parents' Anthony and Catherine, lived and died in Armagh in 1916.

Hi,
There is a tree on Ancestry for your James that identifies Anthony and Catherine as James' parents with no supporting documentation. Your James did not name one of his son's Anthony. The one I mentioned above had a daughter Catherine and a first son named Anthony.

Robin,
You might try requesting James' marriage and death certificates from the State of Pennsylvania. They sometimes include parent names.

Married, 1851/1852 his wife
Jane Josephine (Burke) Mc Convill

James Parents: according to the Bap. records I had found was:
Anthony McConvill
Catherine (Murtagh/Murtha) Mc Convill
I may be linked with James father name of Hugh? I am searching for James correct father and his great grandfather.. if possible. Again, I thank you in advance for this info that you can find. Perhaps there are pictures or portraits that I may be available as well. Very curious in what they looked like.
Robin,
FYI
Records from Ancestry.
This record does not work with death date nor Pennsylvania death. He might not be from Pt. Pass.
