Looking for Anne Toner b ~1818 Newry, Armagh
I'm looking for any details of my 2x great grandmother Anne Toner from Newry, Co. Armagh. She emigrated to New South Wales as a 24 y.o. single woman in 1841, aboard the Adam Lodge, which departed from Liverpool. I have extensive documented details of her life in Australia from her marriage to William Webster in 1842 through to her death in 1898. Her marriage certificate and death registration do not give her parents' names. But her early life in Armagh is mystery. The confirmed details that I have from the passenger list are: 24 y.o. in 1841; worked as a farm servant; Roman Catholic; can neither read nor write; originally from County Armagh, Ireland; engaged by employment agents Gilchrist & Alexander.
Unconfirmed details from a reliable source: born in Newry, County Armagh; parents both deceased before leaving Ireland; travelled under protection of Bernard Neale; character references provided by Bernard Maguire and one other (un-named).
I'm wondering whether she may have married previously, so that Toner might have been her married name, rather than her maiden name.
I'm looking for any information that might provide a locality, parents' names and other details, and confirmation of any of the underlined details above.
All suggestions gratefully received.
