I'm looking for my 2X greats

Eliza Hughes - parents Francis H and Catherine McPhillips. Francis McC - parents John and Rosannah McGauldy ( I have doubts about his mum's surname) their parents info was taken from the death certs as both died in Scotland.

They have links to Ballybay, Keady &

Derrynoose 3 of their 7 children were born in Ireland. I have the birth certs for the children born in Ireland & Scotland. They allegedly married in Birkenhead/Liverpool but I've found no trace of them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The Scottish census' Eliza and Francis completed don't give their places of birth. Between 1863 and 1868 they're were in Ballybay and Derrynoose areas where 3 of their children were born Francis, Mary and John. They came to Scotland circa 1868/9 where their son Robert was born, my Great Grandmother Eliza was born 1871 in Kirkcowan Dumfriesshire. Their eldest 2, a son James ( possibly James Lawrence) and daughter Rosannah were born in England (no idea where tho). The eldest son's name doesn't fit with the Irish or Scottish naming conventions if Francis' father was indeed called John.

  • The Scottish census forms Eliza and Francis completed don't give their places of birth. Between  1863 and 1868 they're were in Ballybay and Derrynoose areas where 3 of their children were born Francis, Mary and John. They came to Scotland circa 1868/9 where their son Robert was born, my Great Grandmother Eliza was born 1871 in Kirkcowan Dumfriesshire.  Their eldest 2, a son James ( possibly  James Lawrence) and daughter Rossannah were born in England (no idea where tho). The eldest son's name doesn't fit with the Irish or Scottish naming conventions if Francis' father was indeed called John.
