Lookup request: Hewitt baptisms in Kilmore Church of Ireland, PRONI MIC/1/8, c.1828–1845

Kilmore (Armagh)

I am seeking a free image-backed or exact register-backed lookup in PRONI MIC/1/8 for Kilmore Church of Ireland, County Armagh.

The relevant baptism runs are July 1824–November 1835 and August 1835–December 1843.

I would be very grateful for any Hewitt baptisms circa 1828–1845, especially:

James Hewitt, expected c.1829

John Hewitt, expected c.1834–35

Sarah Hewitt, expected c.1839–40

Richard Hewitt

Jonathan Hewitt

William Hewitt

Thomas Hewitt

Joshua Hewitt

For each entry, could you please record the child’s birth and baptism dates, both parents, father’s occupation, townland or residence, minister/contextual notes, and an image or exact register citation if available?

An 1868 Belfast marriage proves that John Hewitt, bachelor teacher/schoolmaster, was the son of John Hewitt, farmer. I am trying to identify the correct Kilmore household. Ballintaggart is presently the leading candidate, but it is not proved; Clonroot remains a genuine rival.

Thank you very much for any help.

HFB138,

You might be a bit optimistic in expecting someone to go to PRONI and look these records up for free. There’s a bit of work involved. However there are plenty of professional researchers in the PRONI area who may be able to help for a fee. Try the Society of Genealogists:

You can also ask PRONI if they will look the records up for you. In my experience they don’t always accept trawling searches due to uncertainty about how much work is involved but as a benchmark, if they are willing to help you, their website indicates a fee of about £20 per 15 minutes research ($27 US).
