If William was born in KIrkcubbin you may find his baptism, and perhaps his marriage, from church records. The Church of Ireland for Inishargy (the parish which includes Kirkcubbin) start in 1783 and Kirkcubbin Presbyterian has records from 1778. There are copies of both in PRONI in Belfast. Tradition was to marry in the bride's church (after which she'd attend her husband's) so the marriage may be in a different church.

Thanks Elwyn, I am in New Zealand so not able to visit in person (maybe one day). I have searched as many online records that I can find but have not had any joy and unable to find his wife's family name to determine her church and or parish. The only records I can find for William come from the Newspaper and I didn't really want to pay a researcher just yet as I haven't got anything else to go on except the above information.

Do you have a source for William Orr’s wife’s death?  She might have been a daughter of this Mrs. Smyth:

Belfast Commercial Chronicle, 18th Oct 1834:

On the 10th inst, at Glennalina, the residence of William Orr, Esq. Mrs Smyth, in the 85th year of her age.

Especially since Stewart Orr’s middle name was Smith.  He married Charlotte Robinson née McCormack in 1865.  I don’t think they had any children.

I’m interested in Robert Orr (d. 1852) because of his marriage to Mary G Ferguson (Belfast Newsletter, 1st Dec 1837).  I’m trying to work out when she died and whether they had any children.  Mary’s parents were James Ferguson of Tildarg and Anne Graham, daughter of Hugh Graham of Belfast (d. c1817).

Hello Treena, I have the Orr baptisms from Kircubbin Presbyterian. I posted a more detailed response on the Orr Group section on FamilytreeDNA. Regards, Richard J Orr.
